Each week Newcastle doesn't disappoint, offering plenty of events and activities to sink our teeth into. So we've picked out our top 5 fav events going on this week and weekend to help you decide.
1. The Botanist Open-Air Winter Wonderland
The Botanist, the very popular bar and restaurant has yet again annually transforms its roof garden into a cosy, hideout for families, friends, Christmas shoppers and city merrymakers.
Last year saw a charming forest-themed setting complete with festive lighting, decorations and even warm blankets for guests to wrap up in over the colder months as well as spiced apple cider and mulled wine, we’ve heard his year is set to be even bigger and better. Set across the top two floors of the Monument Mall,The Botanist, also known for a killer spot to be for watching the Christmas lights switch on, the sights of Grey Street and the Christmas markets.

2. The Argie Bhaji... Curry Battle
Join Wylam Brewery for the hottest battle in town! 8 Curry Vendors go head to head for a spice filled bonfire weekend of foody goodness for curry lovers. The Argie Bhaji Curry Battle begins on Friday 4th November at 5pm and continues from midday on the 5th, and as its bonfire night they're adding a little more heat to the kitchen with the burning of Guy Fawks and fireworks. It's also free entry and pints for £3!

3. Thursdays: Rebel Thursday
Seen as Thursdays feel like Fridays Digital is bringing rock n roll dance floor fillers your way with alternative tracks for Newcastle, Indie, alt, rock, soul and festival anthems! They’re not taking any prisoners and not sleeping until they’re done, (closes at three though).

4. Ouseburn Fireworks
If you’re looking for a family friendly fireworks display, head down to City Stadium Park for an explosive evening organised by the Ouseburn Community Centre.
The display takes place on the grassy area at the bottom of Warwick Street, known locally as the City Stadium, and seems to attract bigger crowds every year.
Time: 5pm - 7pm. From 5pm there will be a few food stalls!

5. Opera North / Der Rosenkavalier By Richard Strauss
The Marschallin, a 30-something aristocrat, is having an affair with the much younger Count Octavian. Although fearful he will leave her for a younger woman, she engineers the first meeting between her lover and the beautiful young Sophie, who is being forced into marriage with the unlovable Baron Ochs – with inevitable consequences. Perfectly poised between comedy and pathos, Der Rosenkavalier supplies an evening of gorgeous music, sumptuous costumes, and romantic intrigue, by turns comic and moving.
